Could you walk me through your career path, starting with your experiences in college and any internships or jobs you had before your current role?
My experience with landscape architecture began long before I even thought about college. My dad worked in construction and would always have projects around the house. I got to help him with design and building, literally learning everything about it.
Later, when I was a bit older, I got a job at Home Depot. That was also a mix of construction and different departments, so I got to learn more and expand my knowledge in construction.
When I got to college at UC Davis, I realized I wanted to stay within the construction field. I initially thought I wanted to study civil engineering. However, as I started taking more landscape courses, I realized I liked the art component.
Landscape architecture is a mix of arts, science, and math, but it's definitely very artistic. That's why I really enjoy it. I wasn't able to participate in any internships during my four years at Davis, but I do wish I had and recommend it if you can.
