What are some of the biggest challenges of running your own business?
As a founder, the buck stops with you. If there's an issue, a small one will be fixed easily, and a big one will be brought to my attention. A good portion of the position is dealing with these big issues.
This could be a client displeased with our service and figuring out how to remedy that and navigate the relationship. Or, it could be a rodent eating the entire garden overnight, leaving it completely empty.
The largest challenge is definitely dealing with the issues that arise. Every business will experience them, and the best way to handle them is to deal with them quickly and thoughtfully.
Having things linger and not dealt with can quickly add up. My advice to anyone is that as issues naturally do come up, and they will be challenging and hard, it's better to confront them, communicate about them, and deal with them quickly yet thoughtfully.
