What does a day in the life of a talent consultant look like?
I'm very fortunate that I'm able to work from home. My day starts with a 9:00 AM meeting with the rest of the Eden Smith team. This is a really great way for us to talk about the previous day's successes and challenges, swap ideas, and make plans for new approaches to new things and events that we're planning.
It's great because it's across recruitment consultancy and education as well. We're able to get an insight into everybody's day, and it's a really great way to set the day up. From there, I work US hours. Normally, I have a lot of emails and LinkedIn messages that come in overnight that I'll catch up on, go through, and start replying to and booking calls.
The middle part of my day is a lot of research on current topics, whether that's in data science or recruitment. I then pose questions and topics, and post discussions with my network, primarily on LinkedIn. I love getting other people's opinions and views on certain parts.
The rest of my day will be candidate calls in line with jobs, but also providing them with advice and learning a lot from them. I also host meetings with our clients to discuss the current state of the market and bring on new business.
