How would you describe people who typically thrive in this industry?
Those who thrive working for a federal agency, specifically the Department of Veterans Affairs, really have to have a servant's heart. When you work for the federal government, the pay scale and structure are not as robust as in the private sector.
So, for those who thrive here, there's a keen appreciation of the mission and for those in which we serve. There are rewards that come with each paycheck, but there can't be an expectation that it's the same robust structure as the private sector.
The takeaways are vast, and the rewards are great when you know you are making an impact in veterans' lives.
