I think your typical go-getters, if you're going to bother to learn something on your own, you'll probably succeed. But also, people that are not just intelligent from an engineering perspective.

Intelligence alone only takes you so far. Good people skills, knowing how to build relationships with people, and learning how to talk to them and socialize, are also crucial.

You can only get to a senior engineering level by just being an engineer. If you want to go beyond that, you have to have the people skills to build relationships.

I think that's what a lot of people lack in our industry: some of that communication skill.
