Who thrives in industry?
How would you describe people who typically thrive in this industry?
In the World Bank, you have to have a very solid knowledge of economics. This is especially true in the job I was performing, particularly development economics and macroeconomic economics in general.
Because you are dealing with the lives of people, you are trying to improve how they live. You aim to improve policy so that it impacts poverty reduction.
This requires you to be very convincing and show that you know what you're talking about. You need to demonstrate enough experience by looking at what has happened in other countries. This allows you to say, "This will work," or "It hasn't worked in this other place, so you might want to change this."
You have to be convincing, and at the same time, very knowledgeable of the subject matter you are using to convince people.
