What do you enjoy most about being in your industry?

I love working in fashion, especially in footwear. I think footwear is such a unique piece of our self-expression, and it's an inherently very creative and culturally tapped-in field. I believe it's a really fun space to be in.

More broadly speaking, what I've loved about being in consumer goods is that you get to touch and feel the product. That wasn't something I had in my job with a business technology company. I couldn't hold the cloud technology in my hand.

So, it's really fun when I'm sitting down with our product team and I can hold the shoe in front of me and ask them about specific components of it. I also think it's really fun to help market a product that you yourself would use.

Before I ever worked for Allbirds, I owned a pair of Allbirds, and so it's really fun to just have that inherent love before you even start working on it. I think if you can find a way to work on a product that you would use in your personal life and you really enjoy, it makes your job as a PR person a lot easier because the stories feel more authentic.
