Could you walk me through your career path, starting with your experiences in college?
Did you have any internships or jobs before your current role?
I got my degree in journalism from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. I concentrated in public relations and minored in integrated marketing communications. I took classes that ranged from PR 101 to graphic design to media law.
While I was in college, I did a couple of different internships. I interned for a boutique PR agency working with local businesses in Southern California. I also interned with a cloud technology company called Oracle for their global PR team.
Those internships were really informative experiences that ultimately changed my post-grad trajectory. The internship with Oracle led me to my first full-time job. I was with Oracle for a little under four years and really enjoyed the experience.
Oracle is a big business, so I learned a lot about working for a corporation. Ultimately, I decided I wanted to move into something more consumer-facing. In December of 2022, I made the move to Allbirds on their global PR team.
Allbirds is a San Francisco-based footwear company. I moved from cloud technology, which is very business-facing, to footwear, which is very consumer-facing. I've loved it ever since.
