What entry-level positions in this field might an undergraduate college student consider?

Depending on your specific focus, whether it's market sizing, financials and projections, or accounting, you could work as an internal staff accountant. Alternatively, you could work within the assurance or auditing side of Big Four firms.

These roles extend to financial analysis, FP&A, or financial planning and analysis at major corporations, both in the Bay Area and Los Angeles. These present great opportunities, especially with the connection to technology.

If that's the route you want to go, you can move to almost any state. This is due to the level of freedom you have with remote work, if that's your preference.

For marketing analysis or a more general combination of accounting, product management, or project management roles, these are also great opportunities depending on the company type. I have a friend who left a financial advisory position at a consulting firm for a product management role and loves it more than anything she was doing before.

I would make sure to look at Handshake; I was on Handshake all the time. Reach out to recruiters and understand what they are recruiting for. One mistake I made was trying to recruit for a service line at a consulting firm, even though they didn't recruit out of San Jose State for that specific area. This closed off opportunities for me, but it doesn't have to be that way for you.
