What a Senior Territory Manager at iRhythm Technologies Wishes They Had Known before Entering the Medical Device Industry
Nicole, a senior territory manager at iRhythm Technologies, advises aspiring medical device professionals to thoroughly research company culture before accepting a position, emphasizing that the industry is "very male dominated" with a potential "bro culture." This research should include reaching out to current employees on LinkedIn to assess whether a company's values align with their own and to identify potential mentors, while also establishing boundaries against unacceptable behaviors.

What have you learned about this role that you wish someone would have told you before you entered the industry?
I think the medical device industry is very male-dominated and there is definitely a bro culture. As a female in sales, I want to make sure any company I work for aligns with my values.
I want to stay true to my values, be confident, and be willing to learn. I also look for mentors, whether male or female.
It's important not to tolerate unacceptable behaviors. I need to be able to recognize when a situation might not be a good fit.
I do a lot of research before interviewing at any company. I talk to everyone and reach out to reps on LinkedIn to ask about the culture and ensure it's a good fit.
