As someone who identifies as a woman, how has that impacted how you've navigated your career?
As I mentioned, the medical device and sales industries in general can be very male-dominated. It's important to stay true to your values and ethics, and to have confidence.
Be respectful, but also demand that you are treated with respect. Don't let yourself get pushed around.
I previously worked in the operating room for seven years, and sometimes doctors can have challenging personalities, male or female. There will be instances where you might think, "Whoa."
Knowing not to take things personally, while also being respectful, is key. If you prove you are knowledgeable and an asset, people will have confidence in you.
Building rapport, trust, and confidence, and behaving respectfully, will likely earn you respect in return. There are always a few bad apples, but I think it all catches up to them.
