Q7: Favorite parts - industry

What do you enjoy most about being in your industry? The organic certification industry is certainly unique. What I really like about it is I believe in it.

I believe in sustainable and ethical food practices. I wish that organic certification, or rather, the process of growing food organically, was the norm, but that's not where we are yet. But it's really nice to be part of this industry with such a great ethical backstop.

Also, there's a lot of growth. This industry is always evolving and providing new opportunities to learn and innovate in farming and food production. So I really like being part of that.

And it's really different than a lot of other industries. I notice in social settings when I get asked about work, people are really interested in learning more about it. I get a lot of follow-up questions about what the USDA National Organic Program Regulations are, what they mean, and if I buy organic.

Being an introvert, I really enjoy an opportunity to talk more about an industry that I love and I'm really passionate about.
