What do you enjoy most about being in your current role?
One thing that's very unique about being in a facilities function at a larger company is that you get to deal with every aspect of the company. Every person sits in a place you've provided, and every business depends on the facilities that you provide them. It's a very unique position to have to deal with every aspect of the company.
That makes it really fun to get to experience Applied Materials in every aspect, whereas not every group gets that benefit. Another thing that I enjoy is dealing with people all around the world. It's so interesting to hear their stories and to deal with their unique challenges. That variety is really fun.
In the tech industry, because it moves so fast, there are challenges of speed and change that you have to deal with all the time. For some people, that's uncomfortable. If that is something that you enjoy, which I do, it's unlimited. It's happening all the time, and it really keeps things very high energy and exciting.
Lastly, I'm very fortunate in this role to have a manager that is very supportive and empowering. I get to make decisions, and he trusts me. That's a very positive experience. If you've had it with an empowering manager and an unempowering manager, you can compare. It's one of the things I enjoy most about my job.
