What skills are most important for a job like yours?

I would say, being knowledgeable is for sure important. It's about being able to think abstractly and connect disparate ideas. Ultimately, it comes down to being resourceful.

This means knowing a lot of people and a lot of things. You don't necessarily have to know everything in depth. In some cases, you probably do, but since I'm helping out a lot of different companies and I'm involved in overseas and national security matters, as well as business, I can't really get deep into any one thing.

So, really, it's a lot of reading, a lot of talking with people, and a lot of network building. Therefore, I'd say the biggest thing is being resourceful, being curious, and then being social. Maintaining all those relationships is probably the most fun part.
