What do you enjoy most about being in your current role?
I may be biased since I work in this industry, but I love working on all things travel. It's one of my personal passions. Being able to represent five-star properties across the country and also physically go to those properties has been really cool. I've been to almost all of my accounts.
I think having that personal passion really makes me enjoy my job, and being able to be heads-down in all things travel. I've also loved writing my entire life, so it's nice to have a lot of writing projects. There's still a little bit of creative writing involved, and I think everyone at my agency has their own kind of flair. You can tell when something is written by us.
This is a bit more specific to my agency, but I really just love the people. There are a lot of people my age working there, and I've been able to make really good friends. I think it's been really beneficial being able to go back into the office.
Public relations draws outgoing, positive, talkative people together, so they're very easy to make friends with and always great to work with. Just the people I have the privilege to work with and the journalists I get to meet also makes the job.
Lastly, sometimes we have a lot of hard work go into a story. Finally seeing it get published is always a great feeling. It's something tangible, especially when it's a print story because you can hold the magazine right in front of you and think, "I helped work on this." It's nice to have something tangible to see.
Sometimes you'll work on something so hard and not know the outcome. I think it's a very, very rewarding job.
