What skills are most important for a job like yours?
Curiosity is always an important part of being an active participant in your career. I am very open to the possibility and true reality that I don't know everything. Whoever I'm working with might have a specialization or a specific way of looking at or thinking through things. This is true for anyone at any stage of their career.
Being curious, not only about a person's suggestions and recommendations, but also to understand the broader challenge as a whole. I have a theory in my work that there are three archetypes of problems that exist, and they just come in different flavors and styles.
If you're curious enough to dig to the deepest level and understand the challenges you're facing, you almost always already have a blueprint for how you've solved that challenge in the past. That curiosity helps me feel confident going into challenges. It also ensures that as I approach challenges, I am fair, thoughtful, and representative of reality, not just assumptions.
