What is the biggest challenge in your current role?
The biggest challenge in my current role has two answers for me. If I put on my tech startup hat, I'd say burnout is probably the biggest challenge.
Working in an early-stage startup means you're a builder facing challenges from all directions. You're trying to put out fires and problem-solve on top of your regular responsibilities. That's one aspect, but would I change anything? Absolutely not. I really love it, even though it's exhausting at times.
On a more specific note, regarding Partnerships and Business Development, the biggest challenges are staying on top of many different deal flows and their stages. It's about ensuring you stay organized and set yourself up for success. This allows you to manage multiple deals happening asynchronously at the same time.
Attention to detail can be challenging for some. I've worked with people who struggled to differentiate contracts or get lost in the minute details. However, it's crucial to work through those details quickly at a high level. Things move fast in creative spaces, and you have to be able to pick up and go.
I've definitely had busy times that were slightly overwhelming. If you don't come in organized and truly passionate about what you're doing, it can be a challenging industry to work in.
