Could you walk me through your career path, starting with your experiences in college? Did you have any internships or jobs leading up to your current role?
My current role is making videos on the internet. That's the easiest way to explain it. I'm a YouTuber, and I make videos related to guitars.
There are many guitar YouTubers, and I'm one of them. I inform people about new products as they come out and share cool things they can do with their guitar that they might not have tried before.
Looking back, the things I did before my current role seemed obvious, but they weren't at the time. I played guitar for a long time before making guitar videos. I also did video editing and made videos, but they weren't about guitars. They were just for fun with friends.
As YouTube and social media became more popular, I saw an opportunity. I realized I could combine my existing skills – playing guitar and video production – in a new way.
I could bring together my experience and enjoyment of these activities. I could combine them to create content that would be helpful to others. That's really how I think about it.
To be completely honest, I did not learn this in college. I was more interested in technical subjects in school. I did take some economics courses that proved very useful.
However, I didn't go to college with the specific goal of becoming a YouTuber. It was more about having a variety of life experiences, trying different things, and identifying my strengths and interests. Then, I figured out how to combine them into a career.
