What are some of your main responsibilities within your current role?
As head of business development, my role within the holding company is to supervise business development, operations, and strategy across our portfolio of companies. I ensure they are aligned with their metrics and executing established or developing strategies.
I also make sure that sales teams, salespeople, sales leads, and supporting staff have the high-level support they require. My daily tasks can vary significantly.
Sometimes I reevaluate processes to ensure we operate as effectively and efficiently as possible while maximizing revenue. Other days involve restructuring bonus or compensation programs. I also examine Salesforce pipelines, ensuring our reporting structure is efficient and helpful for making informed decisions about our business development efforts.
I also consider how we can leverage our suite of products and services and explore market opportunities for expansion or augmentation. This includes looking at new technologies like AI, blockchain, or web3 to enhance our products.
Beyond daily responsibilities, we advise on potential acquisitions. This involves performing due diligence, going through the traditional M&A process, and evaluating financial statements. We ensure the business model of a potential acquisition makes sense and has synergies with our existing portfolio.
We also look at potential companies for investment that offer services or capabilities we might want to integrate into our product suite. For these investments, we ensure they are moving towards cashflow positivity and profitability, essentially making sure we are not wasting company money on our investments.
