From a data science perspective, there are many routes within the data community. You can be a data engineer, an analytics engineer, a data analyst, or a data scientist.
For me, moving into consulting was a big factor in my data career. Working in a consulting role gave me experience in different industries. This helped me figure out what types of industries I wanted to work in and what I'm passionate about.
Conversely, working as a data analyst in other parts of the business has really helped me develop my data and people skills.
So, the roles you can look at are data analyst, data science, data engineering, and analytics engineering. Consulting is also an option, as many companies have general consulting roles. Within these companies and projects, there are also data analyst-heavy roles.
