Transcript

What are your main responsibilities within your current role?

I am the owner of my business, Zeppo Media Partners, LLC. I'm the partner, the majority owner, but my husband is the other partner, so we're about half and half.

My half involves being the art director for everything. So if anything needs to be designed, any collateral needs to be looked at, or any branding needs to be created, that's what I do.

But as owner, I also handle the budgeting. I handle the HR for our two employees, all the state regulations, and I deal with the IRS. I do all that stuff, which I had no preparation for at all. I had to learn that as I did it, which was kind of frustrating.

If you have the chance to do this on your own, I highly recommend taking some entrepreneurship classes just to get your feet wet. It's a lot more complicated than it seems.

So I spend more time than I like doing that stuff. I'd rather do the other stuff, but since I own the business, I have to.
