Significant Career Lesson From a Director of Business Development in Sport at Exos

Mariah, Director of Business Development at Exos, finds it challenging to pinpoint just one significant career lesson due to continuous learning from colleagues, stating that "every person you've worked with...all have different perspectives." However, a core lesson learned is the importance of being "kind, courteous, patient, direct, communicative," because such qualities foster respect and ultimately contribute to career advancement.

What is one lesson that you've learned that has proven significant in your career?

This is the hardest question for me because you learn a lesson from every person you've worked with. People on your team all have different perspectives and different ideas. As you work with people one-on-one or on teams, you learn something from them.

So having just one is so difficult to identify. But I think if I had to narrow it down, it would be somebody that you would want to work with, somebody you would want on your own team.

If you are kind, courteous, patient, direct, and communicative, like all those skills we talked about earlier, people will respect you. I think you really just have to put in the effort on yourself before you can really do bigger, better things with your career.
