Could you walk me through your career path? Please start with your experiences in college. Also, include any internships or jobs you had before your current role.
I graduated from a small liberal arts college called Williams College. It's in Northwestern Massachusetts, in the Berkshire Mountains, so it's a pretty rural, isolated college. I had an amazing time there.
I was able to explore multiple aspects of the environmental field, which was really beneficial. I spent my second year doing a lot of policy classes. My third year, I took a lot of planning classes, including when I studied abroad in Copenhagen.
My senior year, which was also 2020-2021, the COVID year, I emphasized sustainability, communications, art, and justice. That was a really great introduction because the environmental field is really wide and has so many different niche aspects to it that I was able to explore.
After I graduated, I started as a part-time fellow at my current company. That was the fall of 2021. I took advantage of opportunities that arose to transition to part-time about three months after I started, and then accepted a promotion to coordinator three months after that.
That was kind of my trajectory. It's been pretty short so far, but it has mostly just been really exploring and taking advantage of opportunities as they arise.
