Could you walk me through your career path, starting with your experiences in college? Please include any internships or jobs you had before your current role.
My career path has been a bit all over the place. After completing my graduate studies, I began consulting for Hollywood directors and writers. I offered my skills as an anthropologist, aiming to create verisimilitude in their works of art.
However, that work wasn't as steady as I desired. I started looking for other opportunities to use my anthropology skills—research, interviewing, and writing—in the real world. I wasn't interested in being an academic.
I've done various things, like working for an Italian distillery as a marketing researcher. I also worked as an organization development researcher for Hughes Aircraft. Additionally, I served as a grant writer for a nonprofit mental health organization.
More recently, I worked as a speech writer for the Getty Information Institute, which was part of the museum. That was before I started my book publishing career, which I'm still involved in today.
