What entry-level positions are there in this field that an undergraduate college student might consider?
There are many communication and outreach roles available for recent college graduates, and I think that would be a really good starting point. You will have your hands in all of the communication tasks, which may get tedious.
For example, you might be sending many emails or making numerous cold calls each day. However, this work can naturally lead into the fundraising department or various events you can get involved in.
This allows you to get a feel for which aspect you like most, what skillset is your strongest, or what work truly fulfills you. Communications and outreach is a good starting point that allows you to easily explore what else is out there within a nonprofit organization or that space.
I think that's something that can be applied to a lot of other companies and industries as well.
