What do you enjoy most about being in your role?

What do I enjoy most about being in my role? The most exciting thing is probably that it's never the same. It's something different each day; you never know what's going to happen, so the content always changes.

As a street reporter, I do less of that still. Sometimes I go out, and you meet different people. They are often the most amazing people: someone who invented a new technique for editing genes, or a doctor who, despite having cancer, is still teaching a course on cancer to help other people. I'm always inspired by the people I meet, so I think that's really cool.

It's also very exciting to have a front-row seat to history in the making. What else could I have done to have met incredible people in my career? I've met Cesar Chavez, Al Gore and talked about the environment with him, and even Muhammad Ali, shadow boxing with him in his home. That's just a pass to the world, so that's fun.

It's challenging. You have to think fast, be able to pivot, and recall details on a dime. A job like that keeps me engaged and is super fun. It's also very social; I work as part of a team with my co-anchors, producers, and writers.

It's satisfying when you put out a product and feel like you won. By winning, I mean doing a really great story, something unique, helping somebody, or getting a very important story first. That's such a satisfying feeling. So for all those reasons, this is a very enjoyable job to me.
