What do you enjoy most about being in your industry?
What I enjoy most about being in my industry is the ability to make a difference. I really believe knowledge is power, and an informed, knowledgeable citizenry is vital to a functioning democracy and a functioning nation.
It is our role to ensure that citizens get the information they need to make decisions about their leaders and their lives. It could be something as simple as where they might want to get gas or which freeway they want to take to drive home today. We are giving out facts to make people's lives a little easier and a little better.
This helps us function as a society. Even at a time when it's very challenging to be journalists, I think our role is more vital than ever. If you think about throughout history, due to our work, elected officials have been held accountable.
Sometimes that has changed the course of our government or history, whether during war times or otherwise. We ensure that truth is told. We ensure that the people who are leading us are doing so with integrity.
I think we are as vital as ever. So I really enjoy being a part of that, knowing that we're making a little bit of a difference.
