Q9: Wish known before - industry
What have you learned about this role that you wish someone had told you before you entered the industry?
I wish I had known how vast and numerous the opportunities are. Now that I work in the state, I can see so many different positions related to health that I wouldn't have known or thought of.
For example, you can be very specific. If you care about mental health for students, there's a whole team that just focuses on that. There are jobs tied just for policymaking, or if you want to work directly with members, you can answer phones and handle questions.
There are just so many jobs available. Even my current job, a contract manager for a managed care health plan, I wouldn't have known what that position is as a student. There's just so much out there.
