What are your main responsibilities within your current role?

I'm currently a professor of political science at California Lutheran University. As a small liberal arts college, my primary responsibilities focus on students, which includes teaching, preparing classes, and mentoring and advising.

I'm also heavily involved in the organization of the department. This involves deciding on class offerings and whether our curriculum needs changes. We also have service meetings.

Additionally, I conduct research. Even at a liberal arts college, all professors are expected to pursue their individual research agendas. My research explores religion and politics, as well as race politics.

I try to involve students in my research. This past summer, three students worked with me on research projects, and I also conduct research independently. This involves writing, data collection, and presenting at conferences. However, my primary responsibilities revolve around my students and their needs.
