What are some of the biggest challenges in your current role?
I think there are a couple of challenges. The first is time management, because you're always being pulled in different directions and it's difficult to prioritize what needs to get done.
You really have to be conscious of what's urgent, but maybe not critically important. What's critically important that has to be done, no questions asked, no matter what's going on, you're meeting that deliverable.
That goes to the first two pieces of my job: catch management and the orderly, annual forecasting. The final thing is time management. I'm also getting a graduate degree in MBA at UCLA, so that just adds to the challenge.
Being able to really manage your time properly is, I think, the biggest challenge I've had in recent times. Beyond that, during COVID, the business came under tremendous stress from, well, the world came under tremendous stress and that rolled into our business.
Working through that has been one of the most difficult, but also one of the most rewarding parts of my career.
