What entry-level positions are there in this field that an undergraduate college student might consider?
If you're entering the ed tech space straight out of college, which is an exciting opportunity, and you don't have a traditional education background, there are a few different paths that could be very interesting and helpful for you. One area to consider is customer success.
There are many entry-level roles in customer success and even sales associate positions. I know many people hear "sales" and think, "I don't want to be in sales," or "I don't want to be in support or customer success." I can relate to that.
However, these roles are on the front lines of interacting with customers. They are an amazing way to quickly learn what your product does, its impact, and who your customers are.
These are also great pathways into a business, regardless of company size, that has a sales or customer success function. You can come in, learn a lot, and then consider moving up within that department if you enjoy it, or moving laterally into different functions within the company. So, those are two areas that could be interesting.
