Transcript
Could you walk me through your career path? I'm interested in your experiences in college, any internships, or jobs you had before your current role.
College was where I first picked up a camera. It was also where I made many valuable connections and friendships that led me to where I am today.
During my first year of college, I started off with photography and videography as a hobby, not as a business. I was intrigued by the equipment and taught myself a lot through YouTube videos on how to operate a camera and do cool things with it. This is also when I started picking up freelance work, not big corporate jobs, but small personal photo shoots or graduation shoots.
In my second year, I got my first job in the creative field as a media specialist with the Full Circle Project program. This program supports first-year Asian Pacific Islander Desi American students in acclimating to college from high school. That year, I also started my business with my partner.
Initially, our business was more of a side project where we did a lot of wedding videos. Then, in my third year, I left my job as a media specialist. I started working at the local news station, ABC 10, as a nightside editor, all while still doing the business part-time. I was going to school full-time, working full-time, and running the business on the side.
In my fourth and final year at Sac State, I decided to leave ABC 10 and pursue the business full-time. That's a summary of my college path and how I got to where I am today.
