What does a day in the life of a Chief Information Officer and VP look like?

A day in the life for me really depends on the season. We are an event support company, a SaaS company for sports organizations, from youth sports all the way to professional sports.

If it's a busy time of year for our SaaS usage, then it's a bit more heavy on working with customer service or our data team to ensure things are flowing correctly. If it's not a busy season, it might be more oriented towards sales.

On a standard day, I'd probably start by checking in with the morning customer service team. We operate about an 18-hour customer service window, and that team reports to me. I'll see if there are any problems I need to work with them on or bring up to our development team.

Then, I'll check on our development notes from the previous night and see if there's anything I need to test that upcoming day. After that, I'll have a morning stand-up meeting with our client success team. We discuss what's coming up for events that weekend, how our clients are doing, and if they have any needs.

Throughout the day, I'm probably meeting with our different teams: development, customer service, or client sales. I might also be on some sales calls, working on product development or testing, or creating marketing materials with our graphic design team. It's really whatever's needed throughout the day, and there are a lot of meetings.

Towards the end of the day, I'll likely go back through my email to clear it out. I'll also get on our escalated cases. Any case that our customer service team escalates, I'll check out and try to help resolve the customer's question.

After that, I'll probably go home, get back on in a bit, and work with our development team that's working at night. I'll collaborate with them on the latest product designs or answer questions they may have on software we're trying to build.
