What are your main responsibilities within your current role?
My main responsibilities involve working with all departments on campus and our research foundation. Essentially, I meet with any coordinator, faculty member, dean, or leadership role at San Diego State.
The goal is to identify any "weaknesses" within their departments. This could be a lack of administrative support for paperwork or insufficient access to specific software.
I work to bridge these gaps and provide assistance in those areas. This ensures a functioning cycle and prevents bottlenecks.
A significant part of my role also involves managing emotions. Interestingly, my childhood job at the mall, especially during the holidays, was excellent preparation for this. Dealing with mall patrons taught me valuable skills for working with people now.
My job often involves reassuring people that there will be a solution and that we can overcome challenges. Additionally, I am responsible for maintaining data and analyzing San Diego State's trajectory over the next five years.
