Career Path of a Director Product Marketing at Meta
Kati's career path began with diverse leadership roles in college, including sorority president and membership in the Orange Jackets, a women's leadership organization, where they "had to work with a lot of government officials and campus officials". Following internships, including managing marketing at Greenleaf Book Group, a move to Facebook (now Meta) enabled a progression from operations to Kati's current role as Director of Product Marketing, driven by their desire to work "closer to the details on product roadmaps".

Could you walk me through your career path, starting with your experiences in college? Did you have any internships or jobs before your current role?
I'm happy to share. Through college, I was always motivated and looking for opportunities to stretch myself in leadership positions. I pursued these in a couple of different ways.
One was in Greek life. I was sorority president, having progressed through several leadership positions in the sorority before serving as president for my last year and a half. That was an opportunity to really learn collaboration and work with a number of different women.
I was also involved with our Greek organization outside of the immediate sorority. I was in an all-women's leadership organization at the University of Texas called the Orange Jackets. You could think of us as the female hosts of the university. That involved deep philanthropy and a lot of fundraising.
We had to work with government officials and campus officials. This allowed me to stretch beyond the confines of regular campus living. I also considered ways to incorporate real technical experience in addition to on-campus activities.
So, I did several internships. My last one was at a publishing company called Greenleaf Book Group. I ran their marketing organization while I was in college, which was very interesting.
After college, I was fortunate to go right to Facebook, as it was called then. My entire career has actually been at Meta. I've worked all the way from operations when I first joined, then jumped right into product, which has been my true calling.
I've always wanted to get closer to the details of product roadmaps, so I've increasingly had a series of roles that have led me closer and closer to the product organization.
