Could you walk me through your career path, starting with your experiences in college?
Did you have any internships or jobs before your current role?
I went to Chapman University for undergrad as a first-generation college student. I started with a political science major, then discovered and added the strategic and corporate communication major, and eventually added the entrepreneurship minor. I kept myself busy in undergrad.
In addition to academics, I really wanted to get engaged and experience as much as I could, especially as a first-gen student. I was involved in Greek life and extracurriculars. I also started on the exec board of an organization called I Am That Girl.
I had various internships and freelance experiences, primarily with small businesses and startups. These focused on communication, marketing, advertising, and PR. My goal was to explore my interests and gain visibility and skill sets.
From undergrad, I went straight into an MS in Health and Strategic Communication at Chapman, on a fellowship. There, I also taught undergraduate courses in public speaking and business communication. I also had an internship at a firm called Edelman.
After graduation, I briefly worked at Belkin as an associate global marketing manager. Then I began as an account executive at VaynerMedia, where I'm currently. It's focused on social media advertising but covers a wide range. I get to work on accounts like Visa, Indeed, Old Navy, and Toyota Parts and Service.
