Transcript

As someone who identifies as a student parent, how has that not impacted how you've navigated your career?

I became a parent while in grad school. I really saw that you can't put family second.

You also have to balance your time more effectively. For example, if your career requires you to be in the office in another city five days a week, that's going to cut into your family time.

You also have to consider if the salary will be enough to afford childcare. It makes you think about what your priorities are.

So, I think becoming a parent has indirectly impacted my career by making me more aware of work-life balance. That's a really good skill to have, regardless of your direction.
