What are some of your main responsibilities within your current role?
Mainly, I work on the different assortments that are in each store. Every store you walk into is going to be different. Although we carry some of our staple brands in every single store, we have different clientele that come to each location.
A lot of my role is working on those assortments, making sure everything is filled inventory-wise. We need to ensure we're not looking at gaps or that our best-selling product isn't in the store.
I also focus on bringing in newness and new brands that the clients are going to love and that will ultimately boost our revenues. Another part of my role is working on inventory levels.
That's a huge part of our retail business: making sure your inventory levels are not exceeding what you're able to sell through. So, I look at sell-through, trends in terms of what your client is looking for, and price points.
If you're sitting on a ton of inventory that is not being moved through, it can put your company in a very non-liquid position. Then there are the logistical day-to-days, like confirming orders, making sure everything is shipped, and ensuring the client is getting their special order.
So, it's a lot of visuals and a lot of diving deep into our budget, our inventory levels, and our sell-through.
