If you want to pursue the buyer track, I'd recommend looking at assistant roles at designer or retailer companies you admire. An assistant buyer position is deceptively an entry-level role.
While it sounds and is often listed as entry-level, companies typically expect some prior fashion or related experience. Buying is a sought-after career, and it can be challenging to advance, with significant time between levels.
I know assistant buyers who have held the position for four or five years before moving up. So, don't be discouraged if you apply for an assistant buyer role and don't get it right away.
I suggest working as an assistant in another capacity. This could be a personal assistant or an executive assistant, or any assistant role that allows you to join a company you're passionate about. That's a great way to start.
