Career Path Of A Program Manager At Meta
Josh's career path is notably unconventional, transitioning from a Boston University International Relations degree funded by a Naval ROTC scholarship to a seven-and-a-half-year stint as a naval flight officer before joining Meta as a Program Manager in 2022; this illustrates a journey from military service to the tech industry, with "no internships" and a career that's "a bit of a non-traditional path."

Could you walk me through your career path? Please include your experiences in college, any internships, or jobs you had before your current role.
I did my undergraduate degree at Boston University. I majored in International Relations and Middle East/North African Studies.
I was on a scholarship through Naval ROTC, so the military paid for me to go to school. Upon graduating, I went into the Navy.
I spent about seven and a half years in the military as a naval flight officer. I went to flight training and then spent the rest of that time in operational roles. I left the military in 2022 and joined tech.
I'm a program manager at Meta, formerly Facebook, and I've been there for about a year. That's been my journey. I had no internships and a bit of a non-traditional path because I went straight from college to the military, and then I only recently left.
