I'd say that a lot of folks who want to pursue a career in sports have to have persistence and thick skin. Typically, they might start off in sales before moving into an administrative or executive role.
In these roles, you have to constantly position yourself in a positive light and be able to market yourself, which isn't easy for many people. Sports also tends to be an industry of high expectation with high turnover, depending on where you are.
So, you have to be able to accept that you may need to move on and find something new in order to keep sharpening your skills.
