What is one lesson that you have learned that has proven significant in your career?
This is a bit of a niche one, but I think a big touch point in my career was over the summer. We did a "Woman Empowered" fashion show, and it was all Barbie-themed around the movie. Warner Brothers actually gave us a bunch of props and were involved in the process, which was amazing.
I learned that I am an extremely detailed-oriented person. This goes from how you invite people on emails, making them feel special, to isolating specific groups that you want there. We had a big database of women-owned businesses that we personally invited. I even made the whole fashion show runway and the stage and everything.
There were definitely times my boss and I had different ways of looking at things. She's very big picture, and I'm focused on the details needed to get there. I've really learned that when working with people, you have to understand each other's skill sets.
If my boss is looking at the budget and saying, "This is how much I want to spend," I might say, "Okay, this is how much we want to spend, but within that, we need these small details for it all to work." So, identifying skill sets and being like, "You are better at this, but we also need this," is key to working together.
