What are your main responsibilities within your current role?
My responsibilities right now are broad, but in a general sense, I'm responsible for the success of the New York newsroom. This means helping to craft stories that people want to read and that can affect change.
I'm the guiding force for our coverage and for the careers of our writers. I need to help them understand what makes a *Newsweek* story, where to find the best sources, and cultivate their passions for the industry.
Many of our writers are younger and require a lot of guidance. Even our more senior writers need to be set up for success. We want them to break news, get key interviews, and produce pieces they're proud of.
On top of the day-to-day running of the newsroom, I'm also responsible for hiring and maintaining the general vibe of the newsroom. We aim for a nurturing and productive place where people can grow and want to work.
Beyond my normal to-do list, this also includes checking in with people to ensure they're having a good and rewarding experience.
