What entry-level positions are there in this field that an undergraduate college student might consider?

Island Press has had many interns, both paid and unpaid. These internships can be in editorial, marketing, or even production.

We have since started paying our interns. This is a newer policy, implemented about two or three years ago.

This change has limited the number of interns we can take on, as we can no longer rely on free labor. Free labor is not equitable or fair, and I'm glad that as an organization, we no longer support it.

Internships are a valuable way to gain experience within a specific industry or niche. If you're interested in marketing and communications, I'd suggest looking for similar internship opportunities.

I personally completed two unpaid internships, but I recognize I had the privilege to do so, which is not accessible to everyone, making it a difficult situation for many.
