What do you enjoy most about being in your industry?
I enjoy working in tech. It's very innovative and ever-changing. With new technologies that come up, you're constantly on your toes and constantly learning.
When I shifted my career from higher education to the tech space, one thing that frustrated me most about higher ed was how bureaucratic it can be. I love that in the tech space, especially in startup tech, there's a lot of flexibility and openness to change.
I also appreciate that working in tech is remote-friendly for the most part. Honestly, I enjoy working with engineers so much. We have a lot of fun.
We have something called the standup every morning where we go through our priorities for the day and what we want to accomplish. That's only a 15-minute meeting, but we do have time to do the New York Times Daily crossword to keep our brains sharp. The tech industry seems open to those kinds of fun, silly things that help keep work fresh and exciting.
