Transcript

Jason, could you walk me through your career path, starting with your experiences in college? Any internships or jobs you had before your current role as Managing Editor at EDM Comm?

After college, I became a music publicist. I started at a company called Dim Mak, which was run by Steve Aoki, a headlining DJ.

From there, I joined another PR company where I worked with bigger names like Deadmau5, PartyNextDoor, and the Rolling Stones. I learned to write a lot of different material there, including press releases, bios, and media blasts.

After my time as a publicist, I decided to look into journalism. The whole time I was a publicist, I was actually pitching for various publications and outlets.

So, I kind of built up my resume by writing about some monster artists and doing a ton of interviews over the years. Finally, I became managing editor.
