What entry-level positions in this field might an undergraduate college student consider?
Fortunately, I would hope for most undergrads listening to this, every consulting firm I can think of has an analyst or business analyst type entry-level role. This is available for undergraduate recruiting.
Consulting is an industry where the recruiting process is very structured. Generally, major consultancies recruit from a number of target schools. This recruiting often begins in September of the fall.
So, if you're a rising senior interested in breaking into consulting, my advice is to start your preparation in your junior summer. This way, you'll be ready to hit the ground running during recruiting, which picks up early in the fall.
If you're from a university that may not have many consultancies visiting campus, I encourage you to reach out. Find the recruiting email contact for the consultancy you're interested in and be proactive about using it as an inroad.
In general, there are a number of analyst roles hired. Consulting is one of the major industries that hires undergraduates or recent grads into full-time roles. Therefore, there are several options for people to consider.
