What are your main responsibilities within your current role?
I think this is true for most people in academia, but it's definitely true for me. The school expects us all to wear two hats: one is teaching, and the other is research.
We have a responsibility to teach a certain number of courses and sessions each year. We also have a responsibility to conduct enough research to lead to publications within a specific period.
In addition to that, I've voluntarily decided to wear a third hat, which is working with companies. I do this as an advisor, a consultant, and sometimes as a board member. I didn't do much of that at the very beginning of my career. This is not my tenth year as a professor, but I've noticed that I do a little bit more of that work every year.
