What have you learned about this role that you wish someone had told you before you entered the industry?

Something I was told about school, but wish I had understood better, is that graphic design is a creative medium. However, it's not quite like expressing yourself freely.

There's always an end goal with whatever you're designing for. This goal requires your specific perspective, but it's not like working on an art project. It's for a purpose, I guess.

This really hit me. I realized it's not always, for lack of a better word, "fun." It's a job, and I don't think that's a bad thing. It's just something to be aware of when going into it.
