Biggest Challenges Faced By A Head Of Global SDR At A Linkedin Top StartUp
Iain's biggest challenge as Head of Global SDR at a high-growth startup involves "understanding what the business wants and marrying that with [their] viewpoint," a constant negotiation between organizational goals and individual experience. This is further complicated by the intense demands of the role, leading to burnout and a parallel struggle to balance career success with a fulfilling life outside of work, a common challenge for young professionals in demanding positions.

What is your biggest challenge in your current role?
The biggest challenge in my current role is understanding what the business wants and views, and marrying that with my own viewpoint. Opinions and experience are often brutally hard to remember on a day-to-day basis, so I must bring them into my one-on-one conversations and my actions.
The second challenge is managing my whole life, which is likely dictated by my job at a high-growth startup. With way too much responsibility for my age, I experienced burnout pretty brutally. I am constantly trying to figure out what I want my life to look like and how big work is within that.
Being a Head of Global SDR at 28 means I need to work my tail off to do an okay or good enough job. There's more to life than work at times, so figuring that out has been a big challenge.
